Guys, the wedding countdown is super close, like less than 40 days. People fast for 40 days! Now that all the vendors are booked and invitations are sent out, I wanted to share a list of some things that I personally just remembered I have to do. Keep reading to find out a few last minute things to do before your wedding.
Update Your Registry
We’ve been getting tons of wedding gifts already… and I haven’t even had my bridal shower yet! In addition to immediately noting the sender so I don’t forget who gave what, I like to update my registry regularly. Every week or so – ok, let me be honest, twice or three times a week! – I go through the registry and refine it in case I realize there is something we no longer need, have duplicates of, or that I forgot to include.
Research Legal Requirements
I’ve been so caught up in getting the details of the celebration together, I lowkey forgot that marriage is a legal thing that requires papers. I literally just now researched what my state requires for marriage, and learned that you have to wait 72 days after filing the marriage certificate – good thing I didn’t leave this until the day before!
Buy your dress accessories
You probably found your wedding dress a long time ago, but if you’re anything like me, you’ve given no thought to what you’ll actually wear underneath the dress. It can be overwhelming to decide on shapewear and underwear options, so definitely don’t leave this to the last minute. Otherwise you may end up wearing old draws underneath your gown (eek!) or going commando (which is not a bad option). Buy a few different shoe options until you find the perfect ones, and start sniffing around (lol) for your wedding fragrance!
Pack for the Honeymoon
In addition to figuring out your day of wedding lingerie, you’ll definitely want to scout out some honeymoon lingerie. More on my lacy and racy picks in a future blog post! As a matter of fact, I’m replacing my ENTIRE underwear drawer so I can enter into wifedom with fresh cheeks and proper-fitting, comfortable bras. Since I’m going to the Caribbean for my honeymoon, I’ve also started to investigate swimwear options so I can flounce my newly snatched waistline.
Clean your engagement ring
So one of my friends lowkey threw me all the shade the other day and said my engagement ring was dirty. The horror! Truth is, I have only cleaned it once since getting it almost a year and a half ago. And I often rub lotion while wearing it because your girl can’t be caught ashy in these streets, so my boo was right. Since I definitely don’t want to lose my ring’s sparkle, I downloaded Jewelers Mutual’s comprehensive cleaning and care guide which provides you time-based checklists so you can keep your ring clean and cared for all year long. Specializing exclusively in jewelry insurance for more than 100 years, they know how to keep your diamond ring safe and sparkling for years to come.
You should definitely download the Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company Cleaning and Care Guide yourself so you can check out the tips, but what shocked me the most was that it recommends to clean your ring weekly. Weekly?! I can barely keep up with my weekly face masks and makeup brush wash cycles, so this may be a tough habit to form. Luckily cleaning my ring was wayyy less time intensive than cleaning my makeup brushes, so hopefully I’ll be sparkling at all times!
