Camel Coat + Grey Dress Spring Transitional Outfit

Happy Tuesday! This past holiday weekend was amazing because I got to deep clean my kitchen (yes I’m now old enough where this brings me joy!) and see my dad who was in Nigeria for so long I was starting to feel like he abandoned us to live in President Orange world all by ourselves. Anyway, the weather this past weekend was so marvelous, it does look like spring is on it’s way. To start getting both you and myself in the mood, here’s a neutral but not boring camel and gray spring transitional outfit to wear as the weather continues to pick up.

One of my favorite pieces of outerwear is actually this sleeveless wool coat that I purchased from Zara last year. I’ve worn it over a leather jacket as a two-toned coat, over sweaters as an extra layer, and now over a light knit dress. The weight of the waistcoat makes it heavy enough to actually keep you cold when the temperature drops, but the lack of sleeves makes it totally ok to wear in slightly warmer weather as well. Now is the perfect time to pick up a few lighter knit pieces as stores are clearing out their winter stock to prep for spring arrivals. Here are a few camel coat + grey ribbed knit midi dress options to help you recreate this look:

Sidenote: I’ve been working out 4-5 days a week, mixing up HIIT training and strength circuits, and I’m really starting to see results! It’s been a long time since I’ve been comfortable enough to wear a bodycon dress, so I bought this ribbed knit one from Zara both as a challenge and a celebration. I love the way it hugs my reappearing curves! I took these photos only 3 weeks into the new year, so next time you see me in this dress honey I’m gonna be SNATCHED.

I’m shooting again this weekend and have been brainstorming my spring wardrobe and looks. I’ll likely stick to a neutral color palette and play it up with interesting fabric cuts, textures, and funky accessories so I don’t overburden my now shared closet!

  1. This is a piece that I have to add to my wardrobe. I really like the piece. I can’t wait to see you in that wedding gown. I know that body will be on point with all the working out you are doing.

  2. LOVE!!! A sista is on the tightest budget of all time right now so I may have to hit up my fave thrift store to see if I can find a dupe of this coat… cuz it’s fab!
