I am so excited to finally share my home office decor in our new home in Indiana. If y’all read my blog post on how I plan and design interior spaces then you understand my thought process. For my home office, I wanted it to be a place that would spark creativity as well as feel cosy and homely. I also wanted to incorporate black owned decor pieces- y’all know I’m all about supporting anything black owned! As for the general aesthetics of the room, I went for a chic, minimal, white-COME ON neutrals! And some gold decor pieces to tie everything together!
Every interior space I’ve created starts with a mood board. I had an overall idea of how I wanted the room to look like but I did not have the time to execute it all, so for the first time, I worked with an interior designer Annisa from Creative Peach Studios who helped with the mood boarding and product scouting for the space. To start off, with the clean and minimal vibe, we painted the room with Sherwin Williams Greek Villa.
For the first section of my office, probably the most important area is a desk space where I can sit comfortably and do my work. I wanted a desk that would face outwards rather than facing the window. I scouted this concrete desk (which unfortunately is no longer available) for quite sometime before finally finding it on the CB2 website. Behind my desk I put up my framed degrees which are featured on this blog post I did last week. I wanted to keep my desk surface clutter free, so I got this acrylic letter organiser from Target where I store my laptop, journals and other documents. I also got my swivel chair with some gold accents from CB2.
Right next to my desk is the window. I am a huge believer in curtains and I LOVE these Ikea Ritva curtains. They are an off white colour and they bring so much warmth to the room. To keep the white and gold theme alive in this area, I hang them up on this gorgeous gold curtain rod that I also got from CB2.
The next area in the office is my favourite corner in the whole office. My desk looks out to this particular area so I wanted to have pieces that spark joy. Since I already had a lot of white in the room, I wanted to bring in some warmth, so Annisa found this amazing credenza from Safavieh that I love so much. I fell in love the detail on the doors so I had to get it.
Initially, I had wanted to get a floor length mirror for the office but since I already had one for the bedroom, I decided to get this small and decorative mirror which is black owned from ShopCandiceLuter on Etsy that would go on the wall above the credenza.
For the last section of my office, which is probably the most loved area by most of you, I stumbled upon this gorgeous wallpaper on Etsy which turned out to be the exact one had I had used on the design inspiration and mood board of the office. Y’all know I love my neutrals but when I saw this, I had to have it. I had lots of neutrals in the room already and this wallpaper is the pop of colour that the room needed. I also wanted a comfy place where I could sit and chill while taking breaks from work or while reading a book. So I got this black owned couch from Albany Park and bought a gold floor lamp from Amazon to go behind the chair.
