Cozy Fall Weekend Outfit ft. Express

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the weekend! Every weekend of mine this fall has been so busy either with travel, events, or wedding planning tasks, so I haven’t had a chance to relax. My favorite things to do over the weekends typically involve brunch (I’m a sucker for omelettes!), shopping (these days I’m getting wedding registry inspiration), and leisure reading. You would think that with all the reading I have to do for my PhD program I would hate books, but I love a good fictional drama! My latest read was Luvvie’s I’m Judging You, and it was the perfect humorous distraction from my very depressing (both material wise and the sheer amount) reading for orals.

I typically wear one of two casual looks in the fall – either a long sleeve tee-shirt/blouse with a leather jacket, denim jacket, cargo jacket, or blazer on top; or this look – a warm and comfortable knit sweater with jeans. I got this outfit at Express, which has a vast array of sweaters and jeans at reasonable prices, plus they are almost always on sale! There are tons of cute sweaters with shoulder cutouts and lace up details that are super on trend right now, but I wanted a slightly oversized sweater in ivory – something my closet was missing.

Sweaters and jeans can sometimes look plain, so I made the outfit more interesting with some flares and comfy boots. Flares are one of those trends I thought I’d never hop on, but once I slid these up over my tush, I immediately fell in love!

When I’m not reading over the weekends, I’m usually meeting up with friends to eat and then window shop. I’m a recovering exclusive online shopper, because I HATE huge crowds and long lines to try things on. If I need to buy something, I’ll usually head to Newport Mall in Jersey City during the week when it’s less crowded. However I came across a semi-secret (at least I never knew about it) mall in downtown NYC called Brookfield Place that is both beautiful and serene. Outside of the mall, there are little bistros right along the water with a view of Jersey City. That’s where I took these pics! The stores in the mall are definitely more high-end, but a girl can browse right?

  1. I love this… Super chill and just my style! I had to give away the flared jeans I owned since I’m no longer a size 6 ???? but I’ll be replacing them soon enough. Nice inspiration.
