Folks have been asking me whether you could style my KinkyCurlyYaki Afro Coily Clip Ins, and while my gut reaction would be to say no duh, I realized some people just need to see stuff in action before they believe it. Well I went ahead and did a super chunky, loose twistout with the hair just to see how it held up with moisture and product, and I’d have to say – it looked pretty darn good!
What I Used
My hair was washed and prepped with Fantasia Haircare’s Aloe Oil line.
Afro Coily clip ins were set in 15 chunky, loose twists with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Strength & Shine Leave-in Conditioner and Miss Jessie’s Stretch Silkening Cream
(I’ve had beef with Miss Jessie’s before, but I received this from CurlKit and I’m testing it out – so far it’s alright, but haven’t used it on super wet hair).
The Process
How Long It Lasted
Now I did these twists on a Friday morning, right before heading to Nashville for Dollar General’s A Day of Beauty (btw check out fellow blogger Christina of Love Brown Sugar’s recap here), and took them down on Saturday morning. I then wore the look until Wednesday night, either plopping on a bonnet, or sometimes putting my hair into two huge twists before the bonnet. Every day, I would spray some more of the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Strength & Shine Leave-in Conditioner on the Afro Coily, and if I was really feeling extra, I’d use the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Perfect Edges for some control around those parts
.
Now I will be honest and say my own hair was super dry by Wednesday – I wasn’t spraying anything on it or using any moisturizing creams, and since it was all the way underneath and between layers of clip ins, moisture really wasn’t getting to it. For this reason, I’d suggest only wearing this style, or any style with clip ins where your hair is still exposed – and I’ll do a future video on how to wear the look while protecting most of your hair – for a few days.

I have so much in store for you guys with these clip-ins, including a coloring video and an updo style, so stay tuned! If you missed the first round of preorders, don’t fear (but you shoulda gotten your life), they’ll be available for sale again in a few weeks from KinkyCurlyYaki, but make sure you stay tuned to my Facebook or Instagram accounts where I’ll make the announcement!
that looks great. I’ve been wanting to give these clip ins a try to add a little more length when I’m wearing my natural hair out. It looks great on you!
Thanks! I can’t wait to see how yours look on you!
I’m rocking clip ins right now as we speak. I love the versatility of the look. I haven’t tried a twist out yet but best believe I will be now!
Can’t wait to see!
I bought hair from this company, they don’t do returns or exchanges so I’m selling their 16in light yaki clip in’s at the link below:

I really like this hair on you. I think I’ll replicate it eventually. Do you sleep with your clips in?

I did after this style, I talked about it at towards the end of the post
Looks great! I love the way it looked when you first took out the twists. Blends really well. I’ve yet to wear clip-ins or anything but I’d most likely do something similar.
