My fall makeup usually consists of a radiant base, copper gold eyeshadow, and a bold lip. All that highlighting I did over the summer? Yeah, I’m now spending that time meticulously lining my lips with the deepest browns, berries, and plums I can get my hands on. I don’t know exactly what it is about deep vampy lipsticks that excites me. I think dark lipstick reminds me of my mom, and one of my life goals is to be half the woman she is, so I now love rocking dark lippies too. Here are my current favorite lipsticks for fall, which, let’s be honest, I’ll probably wear all throughout winter because is there really even a difference once the temperature drops below 50?
Origins Blooming Bold Lipstick
in Black Tulip
MOST HYDRATING
Feels like a balm, but the color is surprisingly pigmented. Unfortunately the wear doesn’t last through meals, but if you struggle with dry lips and don’t mind touch ups then this formulation is for you.
Other colors to try: Merlot Moonflower, Velvet Vine // $20

Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Lip
in Burnt Cherry
LONGEST LASTING
This matte formula is richly pigmented and last through meals, making it my go to when I have a day filled with activities. Don’t be afraid of the matte formulation, this doesn’t dry out my lips, though I make sure to exfoliate before applying.
Other colors to try: Crown Jewel, Plum Noir // $37
Sephora #Lipstories Lipstick
in Malt Shake
BUDGET FRIENDLY
My go to over the past week because it’s so cheap and I don’t feel bad throwing it around in my bag! The quality isn’t stellar (the color bleeds and it fades pretty quickly), but for 8 bucks I have no complaints.
Other colors to try: Wanderlust, Fireside // $8

Becca Glow Lip Gloss
in Dahlia
FOR GLOSS LOVERS
I don’t do glossy lips often, but lately I’ve been using this gloss over my deeper lips to soften them up. Alone it’s a “your lips with a hint of red sparkle” color, so I’ll sometimes wear it alone too.
Other color to try: Chocolate Geode, Becca x Chrissy Teigen Lip icing Glow Gloss Kit // $22
Becca Lush Lip Colour Balm
in Toasted Hazelnut
YOUR LIPS BUT BETTER
It’s really tough finding a brown lipstick that doesn’t make your lips look weird, but these have been my go to hydrating lippies for months now. I usually wear Chai Creme in the summer, but have opted for the darker brown for fall.
Other colors to try: Chai Creme, Cherry Ganache // $22
