I was asked to participate in the #MyHappyPlace campaign, sponsored by barkTHINS at Walgreens. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that support IjeomaKola.com!
When Jonathan and I first started talking in college, he lived on the 18th floor of Mather House. He got super lucky with the housing lottery and had a penthouse-worthy view of downtown Boston. He had propped a keyboard right against the window and would play Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Luther Vandross. As you can imagine, it was all incredibly romantic and I fell for him pretty quickly! We still joke that the combination of his room’s view and the serenades is the only reason he managed to woo me.
Now that we are married, Jonathan still plays that same keyboard from college for me every so often. Even though I love being a social butterfly, I relish the quiet evenings when Jonathan brings out his keyboard. It not only reminds me of our early days together, but also helps calm me from the stresses of school, blogging, and everyday life.
To maximize these musical moments together, I like to treat Jonathan with something we don’t often eat at home – snacks. He absolutely loves chocolate, especially when it’s mixed in with something else – almonds, pretzels, fruit, etc. For guilt-free snacking (because I’m at war with honeymoon weight gain!), we’ve been enjoying barkTHINS Brand Snacking Chocolate from Walgreens, which are snackable slivers of dark chocolate paired with real, simple ingredients. It’s Snacking. Elevated.
All the barkTHINS Brand Snacking Chocolate flavors are made with Fair Trade Ingredient Certified and Non-GMO Project Verified dark chocolate. I love the sweet and salty combination of the barkTHINS Brand Snacking Chocolate Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt, while Jonathan likes the light nutty texture of the barkTHINS Brand Snacking Chocolate Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt. A couple pieces of barkTHINS Brand Snacking Chocolate, some fruit, and my husband on the piano is my happy place.
What’s your happy place? Does it involve music or chocolate? Or both?
