I’ve been trying out this product from March’s blog feature, Dr. Lüderitz Natural Cosmetics for the past two months, first using it on my blown out hair, and then on my kinks! I’m finally ready to report on what I think is a gold mine product, especially for any readers in Europe, as this is a product made in Germany. However, they ship worldwide and can be found on Amazon, Amazingy, Mariposa Import, and DooBop. It’s a little on the pricier side – $37 + free shipping on DooBop – but I actually think it’s worth it!

How it works
The Havana Curls Leave-in Conditioner is a natural emulsion – a mixture of natural oils, plant extracts, vitamin, protein and water. With the selected natural ingredients and the balanced pH a well conditioned, shiny and healthy curly hair is guaranteed. Shea Butter and Mango Butter with their high percentage of about 10% of unsaponifiable components lead to a more moisturized and revitalized hair without a greasy feeling. Furthermore the synergetic effects of the ingredients result in an amazing softness of the hair.

How I Used It
I first received the product while my hair was in braids in January, so I had to stare at it for a few weeks. When I took my hair out and decided to do a tension blow out (and then an irrelevant flat iron attempt), I thought I’d use the water based Havana Curls to get some loose curls back in my hair without having to wash it. I I flat twisted my strands, and even used my Q-Redew to add some steam and moisture, and then went to bed. I woke up the next morning KNOWING I was about to have soft ringlets and my hair looked like this:
Not as curly as I expected, I figured the Havana Curls was safe to use on my blow-out, and I continued to do so, reapplying a little bit every few days before braiding at night to keep my hair both soft and stretched. Check out the rest of my blow out looks with the Havana Curls here.
I also had to try the product on my kinky hair, and the story was the same: A little bit spread well and left my hair soft and moisturized for days. Just to see if the daily was accurate, I used the Havana Curls on back to back days and checked for buildup and saw absolutely none.
I should mention, this stuff is THICK. Not gooey thick like a deep conditioner, but thick like a really emollient cream. The first time I used it, I probably took a heaping tablespoon sized scoop and thank God that I rubbed it in my hands first rather than applying it directly to my hair, because it was way too much. When putting my hair into 6 braids, I typically used just a fingertip amount and it spread super easily throughout. In terms of scent, the Havana Curls has a very very faint lemony smell.
Final Thoughts
Does this product leave your hair soft but not greasy? – YES.
Does this product apply smoothly and easily? – YES.
Can this product be used daily without any buildup? – YES.
Will this product last for at least 6-8 months? – YES.

Based on the cost, I recommend that interested parties buy the travel size version off Amazon for $10; it will last you at least a month. If you’re satisfied, then go on ahead and purchase the full sized product. I’m going to be stingy with mine to make it last the whole year!
Because it’s such a new product, there aren’t really many other reviews; I thought I could include one from DooBop to support what I had to say:
It’s a super thick consistency — it’s practically a mask it’s so thick. It emulsifies really well though. It’s like how it feels in your hands is not the same as how it looks. It’s still very rich in oils and butters though. Use very sparingly. I usually SLATHER leave in conditioner into my hair. You can’t slather this it’s way too thick. I have fine type 4 hair and I would only use this for sealing in moisture on a long term protective style of if I’m going to wear a hat for a full month (which I did)./p>
