We’re about to enter that time of the year when I question my parent’s decision to move to America, and to the Northeast at that. Single digit temperatures – in Fahrenheit – is really unnecessary and actually rude. This weekend will bring bitter cold temperatures, so if you’re on the hunt for a winter coat that will actually keep you warm, here are a couple picks in my favorite styles of the season.

The Faux Fur
My favorite option lately, because 1. it always gets compliments and 2. it actually keeps you incredibly warm. I love it in classic brown and whites, deep burgundys, and patterned versions, and even though Jonathan makes fun of me whenever I wear this one, Im completely obsessed!
The Cropped Puffer Coat
I love that the puffer has been modernized to be a bit shorter and comes in a variety of colors. I’ve been perusing the options on Rent the Runway and just can’t decide on a color yet. Ya know, gotta keep the feed consistent.
The Teddy Coat
Another one I haven’t yet tried yet, but I must admit every time I see it in person or on Instagram, all I can think is “dang, she looks hella warm”.
The Sherpa/Shearling Lined Biker Jacket
For the edgier gals, this jacket style winterizes the badass leather jacket look. I especially love it when the sherpa lining is a bold contrasting color! This would pair really weall with a simple sweater and jeans look, just add your favorite booties.

The Longline Coat
My everyday go to, everyone needs a long wool coat in their closet. Mine is grey, but a camel, black, check or even a bold colored coat will work. The key is to have it reach past your knees, keeping both your upper and lower body warm.
Surprisingly, I found a really cute knee-length, lightweight Hilfiger puffer coat at my thrift spot for $25! I’ve been wanting one in that very silhouette for ages but either couldn’t afford what I liked or couldn’t find a good one when I did have the cash. I was concerned it wouldn’t be very warm because it’s so lightweight but it is!
I have a navy blue long-line coat that I’ve had for years. I love the color and style, even though these days, it’s a little tight and I can’t find the belt that came with it. 🙁

Honestly, I can say that I hardly ever get a chance to wear a winter coat or even any coat living in the South. When it do get cold, it’s still feasible to wear a light jacket with long sleeves. I guess I’m fortunate that I don’t have to deal with the cold freezing weather but I would to see a little snow every now and then.
