Summer 2019 Fashion Trends with Rent the Runway

The 5 Biggest Summer 2019 Fashion Trends

As the icon Rickey said, it’s summer 2019 bay bay! School is out, summer fridays have begun, and the weekend schedules are already packed. If you’re wondering what to wear this summer, Rent the Runway has an amazing assortment of styles, trends, and sizes for every summer body!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I use Rent the Runway for everything, from weddings to weekends, and I’m a huge advocate of just owning the essentials and renting everything else on rotation. There are a few summer 2019 fashion trends I’m loving for this season, so I put together a summer 2019 lookbook featuring pieces from Rent the Runway!

Summer 2019 Trend: Bold Florals

Hunter Bell Floral Sasha Dress (rented)

YSL wallet, Schutz Mules

Nothing says summer like bold florals. Whether you’re headed to your 5th wedding, 5th first date, or 5th trip to the coast, you can dress your floral pieces up with nude strappy heels, and dress them down with leather sandals and a crossbody bag or white sneakers and a denim jacket.

Summer 2019 Trend: Summer Suiting

Rebecca Taylor Scalloped Blazer, Rebecca Taylor Scalloped Shorts, and Zac Zac Posen Grey Eartha Iconic Backpack (rented)

Only Hearts Bodysuit, Cult Gaia Mules

So suits have been a huge trend in women’s workwear for the past few years, but this summer, suit sets are ramping up in a variety of cuts and colors. I’m loving the idea of a blazer + shorts combo, especially when the shorts are slightly longer. Wear them in a neutral, pastel, or a print and confidently crush all your summer meetings, then wear the separates all weekend long to get the most of your rental!

Summer 2019 Trend: Tie-Dye

Proenza Schouler White Label Tie Dye Hoodie, Tory Sport Accessories Red Little Grumps Bag (rented)

Commando Bike Shorts, Nike Sneakers

I love using Rent the Runway as a way to try trends I normally would never buy, and the scariest summer print trend for me is tie dye. Though there are very subtle (and beautiful!) ways to do tie dye that veer closer to the color blocking trend, I love seeing it on athleisure pieces, which reminds me of summer camps from my childhood.

Summer 2019 Trend: Statement Sleeves

ADEAM Bow Sleeve Bustier Top, Mara Hoffman Nikko Wrap Flare Jeans, Rejina Pyo Taupe Rita Bag (rented)

Cult Gaia Mules

A blouse and jeans will always be an easy outfit combination, but turn up your casual daytime look by renting blouses with with attention grabbing sleeves that draw people’s eyes to your even cuter handheld mini bag. Plus cropped wide leg jeans have replaced straight and skinny leg as the silhouette for the summer.

Summer 2019 Trend: Little White Dress

Mara Hoffman Vivica Dress, 3.1 Phillip Lim Accessories Ines Solt Triangle Pouch, Grey Ant Mesh Sunglasses (rented)

Shashi Earrings, Loeffler Randall Mules

Forget the LBD. The little white dress in a midi length is your new go to summer staple, and works for every event from picnics to summer concerts in the park. Or wear it to the beach with a straw hat as a coverup! Pair your summer whites with retro rose tinted frames to match your rosé all day attitude.

  1. fabulous looks, not for every budgets, but great looks, hope i can find some lower budget fashion branbds where i can find similar dresses and looks. You should do one of those for the low budget sister out there!

    1. Thanks for reading! I tend to share the products from brands and sources where I actually shop, so I find it cheaper and more sustainable to rent trendy clothes rather than buy them cheaply and have to give or throw them away every year. So I probably won’t do a low budget lookbook because I really don’t shop in low budget stores that often (besides Target!)
