One thing people don’t immediately realize about having super thick kinky hair on my head is that my hair ALL over my body is thick and curly. It’s great news for my brows, but not so much for the rest of my body. The hair on my arms was fairly coarse until I lasered them a few times, and I have literally used conditioner on my bikini hair (when left unwaxed) in order to try and soften it up. TMI? Just proving my point!
But a part of my body hair that I’ve never been able to control until recently is my eyelashes. My eyelashes are medium length but curl onto themselves, making it really difficult to apply mascara or false lashes. If you regularly watch my Instagram stories you’ve seen me share a few of my falsie mishaps, where the strip lash ends up in the middle of my eyelid because my natural lashes push them so far up. Even professional makeup artists often struggle with my lashes, so it’s not just a technique issue.
Well I recently started using two products that have actually managed to tame my super curly lashes and I wanted to share with you! They are both super easy to add into your everyday beauty and makeup routines and they are both very cost-effective!
Use At Night: Avon Anew Clinical Unlimited Lashes Serum
For the past two weeks, I’ve been using the Avon Anew Clinical Unlimited Lashes Serum as the second step of my nighttime skincare routine, after cleansing my skin. The serum comes in a liquid eyeliner type of applicator, which you just wiggle along the upper lash line (but not on the lashes). The paraben, sulfate, and phthalate free serum contains lash enhancing peptides that support hair strength and volume, and support your body’s natural production of keratin for thicker, fully, healthier looking lashes.
As I mentioned earlier, my lash thickness isn’t an issue, but I am hoping this serum strengthens my lashes so they fall out less, and visibly lengthens my lashes so they don’t curl as much. In the past two weeks, I’ve noticed fewer lashes falling off (I rub my eyes more than I should!) and it appears that my lashes are more evenly spaced out and less clumpy. After 8 weeks, 84% of consumers in a consumer study said their lashes look longer, so I’m looking forward to updating you guys in two months with the before and after of my lashes!
Use During the Day: Avon True Color Love at 1st Lash Mascara in Blackest Black
You know those people who swear that a certain mascara has changed their life? I’ve never had that experience. Yeah some mascaras have made my lashes darker and thicker, but I’ve never been wowed by a mascara. Until now! Seriously guys, this mascara has been a godsend for my lashes, just check out how it looks on one eye versus the one without any mascara!
The Avon True Color Love at 1st Lash mascara contains Vitamins A, C, and E to condition lashes, as well as olive oil and lycopene to help strengthen them. I’ve never tried any fiber mascaras, but this one has hollow heart shaped fibers that are buildable without weighing your lashes down. The brush is tapered so the inner and outer corners are super easy to reach, and it works well on my lower lashes too! This is also paraben and sulfate free, and ophthalmologist tested so safe for my fellow contact lens wearers! And if you make a mistake and smudge your mascara, the vitamin enriched formula rubs right off without compromising the rest of your makeup.
Lashes may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of beauty, but they’ve been a pain point for me in terms of my beauty routine. I’m glad I found the Avon Anew Clinical Unlimited Lashes Serum and the Avon True Color Love at 1st Lash Mascara to tame my super curly lashes! I’ll definitely keep you posted with a side by side of my lashes to see how they continue to progress! Can’t wait to show you guys the full results after twelve weeks!
