3 Ways to Transition Off the Shoulder Tops To Fall

3 Ways to Transition Off the Shoulder Tops To Fall

So although fall doesn’t officially start until Friday (which is also my birthday, woot woot!), eager beavers like myself have already started to dress like it’s 55 degrees. Or at least try to, because the NYC area is still steamy! If you hopped on the cold shoulder trend over the summer, here are a few ways to wear off the shoulder tops in the fall.

With a Cargo Vest

Expect to see tons of olive green this fall, in cargo vests, jackets, and even in camo prints. I paired this Marissa Webb Gavin Canvas Vest (from Rent the Runway Unlimited y’all! Also worn here) with my fave light denim off the shoulder top (worn previously here). Though I wore denim shorts, this look would have been even more fall appropriate with a nice pair of high waisted skinny jeans.

I cannot wait to pair my own camel vest with an off the shoulder top like these ladies above! A more tailored vest dresses up the casual nature of an off the shoulder top, and the extra layer provides much needed warmth once the wind starts blowing.

Under a Turtleneck

Ok guys, hear me out on this. Wearing turtlenecks under blouses is nothing new. While I can’t find any examples and haven’t tried this (yet) myself, I think that a black turtleneck under a black off the shoulder top (or another matching pair) would be so chic! To prove a point, I WILL do this at some point and come back and rub it in your face because I can already tell you’re doubting me. Just wait and see!

How are you planning to wear your off the shoulder tops this fall?

Also (aka PPS), shout out to my new photographer bae Taylor Carment for making me look splendid!

  1. Sooo… I have no off-the-shoulder tops. BUT, the long vest is a look I would definitely do. Of course, I love your cargo vest look as well… been wanting a cargo vest for a minute. You worked it! I’ll be waiting on that turtleneck combo, though, cuz I sure was sittin’ here tryna picture that like :-/ LOL!

  2. The off the shoulder top combo with the jacket is cute. I don’t have an off the shoulder top not yet but love the look. The long vest was an item that I missed out on sale. Have to update the wardrobe.
