Braid and Curl feat. Lottabody Custard Gelée

I know you’re probably thinking – um girl why are you not sharing details of your new hair color?! But I have to tell y’all about one more hairstyle I did before the huge color transformation last weekend. This was a cute and bouncy braid and curl that I achieved using Lottabody’s Moisturize Me Curl & Style Milk and the Shape Me Custard Gelée. I gave y’all a preview of this look when I talked about my haircolor last week, so if you want to see how I achieved the style, check out the video!

While this style looked AMAZING the morning I recorded it, it didn’t have much holding power. My hair kind of poofed up by the end of the day, and with no retwisting was completely shrunken by the next day. This was slightly disappointing for a product that’s supposed to have long-lasting hold, but the directions also say to use on wet hair, so I can’t knock the results if I didn’t use as directed. However, I got to meet and hold and play with my 6-week old nephew so I could care less about my hair!

I’ll soon be launching into protective styling mode so I probably won’t be using Lottabody stuff again until later in the summer, but I definitely want to give the Custard Gelée another shot on wet hair, perhaps with a flat twist out. After trying most of their products in the new collection, I can honestly say that Lottabody has done an amazing job updating their brand to fit the growing natural hair market, with products that are affordable (less than $5 each) and accessible!

Are you feeling this braid and curl? Have you tried Lottabody’s new line of products?

  1. I have tried the Lottabody gelee twice now and each time it leaves my 4C hair a flaky mess. I don’t know if I need to have my hair wetter or if I’m doing something wrong, but I have decided to pass it on.

  2. I haven’t tried shape me custard glee but I tried the setting lotion. I used it on my hair to do roller set and I love it. The product smell good and I can see smell it throughout the day. The edge control is great also.i give the products 5 stars.

  3. I’m quite impressed with Lotta body as well – they’ve done a really nice job of flipping their brand to be more natural friendly. Haven’t tried any of their new stuff though. I finally found products that make my hair sing and i’m not trying to mess up the good thing we have going on right now haha

  4. Your hair look good still at the end of the day Auntie. If your nephew could talk, he would say Fabulous Auntie.
